I guess by now most of you know the drill, but I just want to reiterate how much difference it makes when people take the time to let you know that they appreciate what you're doing. Without encouragement I really would have stopped writing long ago. Thank you!

Those Sacred Days

I can't tell you how much I adore GAnya fic--thank you ever so for indulging my desperate romanticisms!

*Sigh* That was beautiful, I love your Giles and Anya

Mark
29 Jun 2006

Very well done. I especially liked the little touches ... especially Anya's extra thought in finding a watch with the moon phases on it. Very useful!

Pink! Dormouse
29 Jun 2006

Oh, lovely domestic fic there. And a perfect new job for Giles too.

slaymesoftly
29 Jun 2006

Just as touching and lovely as it was the first time I read it. A wonderful series, sweets.

selene2
26 Jun 2006

This story captures such a wonderful moment between the two of them. I really love this story and can't thank you enough for writing it!

*hugs you like mad*

ljs
26 Jun 2006

A lovely domestic moment of truth-telling! :-) Thank you for posting.

Carolyn
26 Jun 2006

Beautiful - nice to see some Ganya again, and interesting to compare your various Giles.

selene2
26 Jun 2006

squeeeeee
You know my utter weakness! Ganya!

This story is so sweet. I really picture the two of them having this relationship. They complement each other so perfectly. I really love this story so much. (as I love all of your work!) *huge grin*

Thank you so much for the wonderful prezzie and for the birthday wishes!
*hugs, squishes, hugs*

Absolutely beautiful, sweetie.

Aw - lovely.

slaymesoftly
25 Jun 2006

Lovely addition to the series - there's our thoughtful, sexy Giles

Elsa
25 Jun 2006

Now this is the Giles that I really prefer!

Awesome update!! *sniff* So sweet!
25 Jun 2006

Lovely little ficlet.

Karyn
25 Jun 2006

Awesome update!! *sniff* So sweet!

zanthinegirl
25 Jun 2006

Aww, very nice! I just read your other update. I'm thoroughly enjoying Broken Things , but it's nice to see a happier version of Giles!

Nice insight into Anya in this ficlet. I can easily picture her at the salon planning the hair, hails, and facial around her outfit. Hee!

Josephine
25 Jun 2006

Lovely. What else can I say?

Tamara
25 Jun 2006

Beautifully done. I love the ease with which Anya says that she loves him. It just goes to show how much being with Giles has healed her of the pain from her relationship with Xander.

alwaysjbj
25 Jun 2006

Awww... so sweet!! I LOVE your Ganya... and I know Selene is going to just love this!

Take Off Your Ice

Amy B
19 Mar 2006

Absolutely gorgeous... so nice to see them find themselves fumbling onto the same page, here, and finding happiness amidst all of it.

And if Giles stays in Sunnydale, I daresay he'll have a chance to have another go at Xander before it all finds itself resolved. *g*

Wonderful, as per usual.

lillianmorgan
5 Mar 2006

Wow. What a lovely series! I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of them, and the back and forth, love, argue, relationship you build between the two of them.
You have some wonderful lines and really capture the spirit of both Giles and Anya.
Really enjoyed reading all of them, thanks very much for sharing :)

enigmaticblues
24 Feb 2006

Yay! A lovely addition to this 'verse!

zanthinegirl
24 Feb 2006

Loved the update. I'm so glad Giles made it clear to Anya that he was picking her, not Buffy. I always want to smack Xander when he doesn't pick Anya over Willow or Buffy, and I love Xander. Anya deserves to be secure in her relationship! And Buffy has Joyce back in this verse. And Xander has a lot of growing up to do in any
verse!

I didn't realize that the Merry Thoughts version of Will You is a cover, but I love the song. Great connection.

Pink! Dormouse
24 Feb 2006

At last they both understand what the other wants. Well done.

curiouswombat
23 Feb 2006

Glad they're sorted out on the 'should I stay or should I go now?' bit. Librarians ought to be good with words - and this time Giles managed it.

Speaker-to-Customers
23 Feb 2006

Absolutely delightful.

Karyn
23 Feb 2006

wonderful update! go supportive giles! lol, lovely as always!

Tamara
23 Feb 2006

I'm SO glad they aired things instead of doing the Scooby denial thing and making themselves miserable. Great chapter? ficlet?

deb
23 Feb 2006

I'd have to be a damn fool not to," Giles assured her, wishing yet again that he'd hit Xander just a few more times. Say thirty or forty might have done it.

If I beg, could you write this scene - it would give me great pleasure.

Carolyn
23 Feb 2006

Yay!! They've got the staying/going thing sorted at last. Giles choosing her over Buffy is going to reassure her even more.

LJS
23 Feb 2006

How lovely that he makes his point so clearly. Nice to see the difficulty resolved!

slaymesoftly
23 Feb 2006

Wonderful entry. Good Giles, indeed! Love his assessment of his relationship with Buffy - and his wisdom about the safest way to tell her he wasn't going to be her watcher anymore. LOL "thirty or forty more times might have done it.." ROFL Bit of Ripper showing through there! Good job.

Jane
23 Feb 2006

I think if I were to accept the job, it would place me in a position where I would constantly find myself having to choose between you and Buffy. I think it's far better I make my choice clear right now." Well done, Giles!
Delighted their wires are finally uncrossed.

alwaysjbj
23 Feb 2006

I LOVE this series and this new instalment is just wonderful!! Thank you for posting them here (http://community.livejournal.com/good__evil/). *hugs*

t_geyer
23 Feb 2006

I love it!  It made me laugh, and they're happy again.  Sigh.

So many things to like about it.  The fact accepted worldwide at least as readily as Mastercard...  And it was a good hammer...  Anya's immediate decisions about sharing the rent and keeping the books at the shop, which was so Anya... Giles' description of the Scoobies descending like locusts...  Giles wishing he'd hit Xander a few more times, say thirty or forty...  I'm still smiling.

Thank you, sweetie.  Lovely, lovely.

Josephine
23 Feb 2006

Ah, so that's how they sort out their confusion!
... Thanks for the early update - it was beautiful as always.

Lovely bittersweet installment! Thanks for sharing it.

Karyn
29 Jan 2006

great update! ugh! just wish she would tell him she didn't want him to go! *whimpers*

enigmaticblues
26 Jan 2006

I love it just as much the second time, of course. You do such great stuff.

Pink! Dormouse
25 Jan 2006

And now things are becoming clearer.

Excellent Anya there.

MG
25 Jan 2006

Gorgeous, bittersweet & evocative.

Have I said recently how much I love these ficlets?!

Amy B.
25 Jan 2006

GAH! That was just bittersweet and poignant and absolutely gorgeous... having had to say far too many of those goodbyes in my time, I have to say that you captured every last twinge of heart perfectly.

So, so wonderful, sweetie! And go you with the uber-productivity!

zanthinegirl
25 Jan 2006

Very nice!

I may be the only one, but I don't mind if Giles heads back to Englad for a while. I'll bet it won't be a long stay, and maybe they need some distance to figure things out.

::ducks::

Elsa
25 Jan 2006

If their time together must end soon, she intended to make the most of the little they had remaining. Sometimes that meant the sound of his voice, reading or singing.

This was a lovely, poignant vignette. I hope somebody on your flist has a birthday soon.

slaymesoftly
25 Jan 2006

Thank you so much! This was lovely, if sad. Poor Anya. A wonderful addition to the series and a wonderful birthday prezzie! *smooches and hugs*

Carolyn
25 Jan 2006

In my heart of hearts, I knew Anya wanted him to stay, but it's really good to get that confirmation even if they haven't been able to resolve the situation between themselves yet.

curiouswombat
25 Jan 2006

Eee well - they're heading in the right direction anyway. A lovely little bitter-sweet vignette. Eventually it will occur to them that neither of them really want Giles to only pop over for a visit now and again I'm sure!

Josephine
25 Jan 2006

Lovely! And while it doesn't 'fix' things, it does seem in character for the two of them. They're both wary of overwhelming the other one. They're trying to keep things under control when it's not what they, personally, want, for the sake of the other. And I'm sure they'll both get the message eventually.

Tamara
25 Jan 2006

*Sniff*

Speaker-to-Customers
25 Jan 2006

Beautiful, bittersweet, and tender. A perfect companion piece to the guitar one (which I didn't comment on at the time due to LJ playing silly buggers with the log-ons and I forgot to come back to it later - loved it too, of course).

Mixed Blessings

LJS
29 Jan 2006

Ah, the guitar! I do love Giles the musician, even if in a bittersweet scene like this.

Amy B.
24 Jan 2006

Oh, poor dear! The road to hell and good intentions and all that, but still... WAH! Fix them! *stamps foot*

Really, really beautiful... both of them still so vulnerable in so many ways, and this was a wonderful reminder that as good as their conversation has grown, there are still so many things they've not said.

Lovely, heartbreaking stuff.

MG
22 Jan 2006

Aren't insecurities horrible!! It looks like poor Anya is giving him a reason to come back & Giles thinks she's telling him to stay away..

Can you make it better soon?

Loved it!

Pink! Dormouse
22 Jan 2006

Poor Giles. I hope Anya can reassure him soon.

Gina

enigmaticblues
22 Jan 2006

That was beautiful, although I do hope Anya asks Giles to stay soon...

Karyn
22 Jan 2006

ohh, poor Giles, so hopeful, just wanna give him a hug *hug*

Melissa
21 Jan 2006

As much as I'd love for them to rush to the happy I like that this is taking time. I love Anya's gift. I'm sure she just doesn't expect Giles to want to stay yet. Giles is so sappily in love here of course he'll have some insucurities poor guy.

Tamara
21 Jan 2006

Oh good. We definitely don't want his misunderstanding to be in limbo for too long.

Carolyn
21 Jan 2006

I always mean to comment before reading other people's comments, but never seem to manage it.

Guessed the box was a gift for Giles, and read eagerly on to see what it was she'd put so much 'Anya-type' time and effort into. Like CW and others, I'm hoping Giles is reading too much into this and that Anya is giving him the opportunity to come and go as he pleases, even if that isn't probably what she wants. (Don't know if that made sense).

Glad they won't be in limbo for too long. I was wondering where you were going for your hols (have read the last A&D even if I've not commented yet), and now I know that as well.

zanthinegirl
21 Jan 2006

I second curiouswombat 's comment-- Poor Giles! I'm sure that Anya wasn't telling him to leave town. I think he's reading too much into the gift, but I suppose that's in character... ::grumble::

You'll fix this after a suitable period of mistaken beliefs, right?? Right??

Josephine
21 Jan 2006

Awwwww! Perfectly bittersweet.

Elsa
21 Jan 2006

I didn't want to leave Giles in limbo for too long so I changed my mind.

I'm glad that you did.

curiouswombat
21 Jan 2006

Oh poor Giles - it probably isn't what she meant to imply at all. I hope.

fredsmith518
21 Jan 2006

Diolch o galon, heart felt thanks.

This was so kind of you. It was the first post up on my friends page this morning. Can't improve on that timing eh? Impressive.

As to the content. I dabbled in guitar playinginmy youth, still have the guitar, which the daughters now dabble with, and the buying of it, the care to find the correct tone, fit etc....god times.

And the 'end' is bittersweet as is life and at the moment that fits for me too.

I think you must be psychic!

Oh and I don't appear to have said how much I like it:D

Leaving Yesterday

23 Feb 2006

I love this wonderful series! And how perfect they are for good Giles month. Go you!

LJS
27 Jan 2006

A fascinating look at Xander/Anya. Really lovely.

Amy B.
20 Jan 2006

This was absolutely gorgeous... so poignant to see her struggling out of the past, and to see Giles understand and accept that so effortlessly. They really are just what the other needs in so many ways...

Beautiful!

DorothyL
20 Jan 2006

Bestest unexpected birthday present ever, Tales! Thank you so much for this and for your good wishes!

Ganya has now replaced premium chocolate as my indulgence of choice, thanks to you. The more I read, the more I'm amazed at how much HEALTHIER this relationship is for both Giles and Anya than where they'd been for the previous four or five years.

zanthinegirl
20 Jan 2006

Oh, you're right! I did somehow miss this episode. Very nicely done, BTW. I like how Giles and Anya are moving on and creating their own life. I can't quite picture Giles as the rebound guy, but I'm still happy!

MG
18 Jan 2006

Great installment, both sexy & sweet.

Melissa
18 Jan 2006

Wonderful as always. It makes sense that it was Xander who had the real kink in that relationship. In the beginning Anya was looking to him to define "normal".

Now Anya has had enough time as a human to decide on her own definition. And Giles is simply giving her support.

Speaker-to-Customers
18 Jan 2006

Lovely! And, oddly enough, extremely sexy without there being any actual sex in it whatsoever.

Josephine
18 Jan 2006

What a lovely lunchtime surprise! It's a beautiful description of the differences between the two relationships too.

deb
18 Jan 2006

If only ...

I kinda love your Giles and Anya!

Pink! Dormouse
18 Jan 2006

Nice bit of settling into the relationship there.

Gina

curiouswombat
18 Jan 2006

That's lovely, and she's quite right of course, but I somehow don't think the shop will become a totally sex-fee zone!

Questions in the Dark

slaymesoftly
24 Feb 2006

ooooh, I hadn't seen this one! Nicely done *pictures Giles/Anya having sex in the kitchen*

LJS
26 Jan 2006

Lovely middle of the night moment!

It does make me laugh, however, because I gave them a collie too in a monster AU written a couple of years ago. Clearly, they are collie people! :-)

Amy B.
6 Jan 2006

This was so sweet, and left me with the biggest grin on my face.

Though I have to say my favorite bit was naming the dog Randy or some other uppercrust name so Giles can get it out of his system. :D

Speaker-to-Customers
30 Dec 2005

Lovely story/chapter.

Yep, but I suppose that when you find your name is Rupert it doesn't seem unlikely that Randolph or Randall might also be family names.

Whereas I'm doing the running joke about the traditional names in Rupert's family being Edward, Yogi, and Paddington.

enigmaticblues
28 Dec 2005

*happy sigh* I loved it. I especially loved Anya's comment about the name "Randy." Too funny!

Pink! Dormouse
28 Dec 2005

Excellent stuff. They all seem to be getting on just fine together.

Gina

Elsa
28 Dec 2005

More Ganya! Much to the good. I'm sure that curiouswombat will love her birthday fanfic.

Melissa
28 Dec 2005

This is going to make me smile for the rest of the day.

Barbara
28 Dec 2005

Really cute! I do enjoy this series; are there any more upcoming birthdays on your list?
"I have been told that some women find reading sexy."

Oh, yeah...

Carolyn
28 Dec 2005

Aw, that's lovely. All those thoughts going through Giles' head, bless him, so considerate of Anya's feelings.

Jane
28 Dec 2005

The more of those embarrassing uppercrust English names of yours that we can use up on the animals, then the more chance there is that our children will make it through kindergarten without having their heads flushed down the toilet."

Indeed, I once read girls raise above whatever they are called, boys sink, stuck with me as accurate.

Enjoyed reading this.

curiouswombat
28 Dec 2005

Thank you so much - what a lovely birthday present. (Although I was a little worried there at the beginning...!)

Josephine
28 Dec 2005

Another lovely addition to the whole. Thanks.

Friends

Pink! Dormouse
23 Dec 2005

And, of course, I loved this one. Especially

"Gi-iles. I don't like waiting. If it was going to be a surprise then you shouldn't have told me about it until you were ready to give me it. Now I have to wait and I don't like it because I don't know whether when the surprise comes I'm going to be all happy and then I could sort of enjoy the waiting even though it's still pointless... Or maybe it'll be a big disappointment and I'm going to get all excited and then I'll be grumpy when it turns out to be something like a can opener and a really big beanbag. So gimme."

Gina

Josephine
16 Dec 2005

I'm being lazy and responding once to all four ficlets. I've just managed to find time to read them, and loved all four. I especially love the Giles/Anya interaction - they're a good match in so many ways.

Carolyn
16 Dec 2005

One down... loved Anya's worrying over little things she had forgotten and her impatience to know what was in the large parcel (and her reason for wanting to know - sounds logical to me). Just want to hug Giles for his thoughtfulness.

Elsa
15 Dec 2005

Great work! I love the comparison of Giles and Anya to Bogart and
Bacall. Nobody would be unhappy with that. I adore "To Have and Have
Not". Bogart and Ball generated great chemistry.

Elsa
15 Dec 2005

I loved it. I loved the analogy to Bogart and Bacall. Bogey and Bacall sure generated whole forest fires of chemistry.

Jane
15 Dec 2005

Nice picture this makes. that sounds so Yoda!

Karyn
15 Dec 2005

awwww, so sweet! sigh i just love giles

Barbara
15 Dec 2005

Ahh, cute! And Anya as a dog person; makes sense to me! plus the dog can chase off the bunnies...

enigmaticblues
15 Dec 2005

Awww...that was so, so sweet. I loved it.

X_tremeroswellian
15 Dec 2005

*squee* I love the way you write Giles/Anya. Beautiful. And the idea of Giles getting her dogs...so cute!

Tamara
15 Dec 2005

Incredibly thoughtful Giles in here. Not only does he help her move and get a vehicle big enough to do it in one shot (except for any forgotten things) but his presenceeeps Xander from being an ass to her and he thinks of her emotional well being for when he's not around.

selene2
15 Dec 2005

This is so sweet! I absolutely love your Ganya.
Your Anya voice is so perfect... I loved the fact that she just couldn't wait for her surprise. Hmmm... I wonder who that reminds me of? *looks around innocently*

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much for the awesome Christmas prezzie!!
It was such a lovely surprise during my break from wrapping presents. My back is killing me! lol.
I have to go back to wrapping but at least I know that I have your fics (for C and t_geyer) to look forward to in my next break! lol.
Thank you again!

*hugs you like crazy!*

Beyond the Point of No Return

slaymesoftly
23 Feb 2006

Lovely glimpse of the growing relationship. Thank you!

LJS
24 Jan 2006

Very sweet interpretation of the middle-of-the-first-night. :-)

Tamara
24 Jan 2006

Lovely story. Great look into Giles' heart.

Amy B
9 Dec 2005

This was gorgeous, sweetie... Giles' mind wandering to potential offspring and amorphous dogs was just heartwarming. Lovely job!

Pink! Dormouse
26 Nov 2005

That was beautiful. Especially lines like

Whatever drawbacks there might be to dating a man who was approaching fifty, they couldn't come close to matching the down side of dating Xander Harris.

Gina

Carolyn
26 Nov 2005

Lovely. Long may we continue to get glimpses of Giles and Anya, separate from the Better 'Verse - the two stories have very different 'feels' to me, and no matter how entwined Giles and Anya get into the other story it will be good to see them in this special world of their own as well.

Elsa
26 Nov 2005

Very believable as Giles' thoughts. I have always been a Ganya fan.

Jane
25 Nov 2005

Lovely picture of day dreaming in gentle after glow.

slaymesoftly
25 Nov 2005

Hee hee! I think Xander's accusations in the last ficlet might have backfired on him a little. After all, if you're going to get the blame for something, you might as well have the fun, too, or at least I suspect Anya might have seen it that way. Glad you approve.

Y. Jackson
25 Nov 2005

Great work. Always thought Giles and Anya made a terrific couple.

Speaker-to-Customers
25 Nov 2005

Ahhh, sweet!

Delightful!

curiouswombat
25 Nov 2005

Lovely. I especially like the idea of Giles trying to see Anya's roots to put hair on his, as yet unconceived, offspring.

Josephine
25 Nov 2005

What a lovely bit of breakfast reading. It made the dark and the cold much more bearable. (Not that it's cold in the house, but the prospect of going out in an hour ... brrrr.)

Barbara
25 Nov 2005

More Ganya-verse! yeah!! (actually tried typing "More
Better-verse!" but I just couldn't make myself commit that sentence to screen..) Anyway loved this story!

I adored Giles little daydream:

she held his hand as they watched a slightly amorphous, largish, long-haired dog run around the park as if it were the most joyous thing in the world. He hadn't quite worked out whether it would be a pedigree or a mongrel.

My favorite bit!

Melissa
25 Nov 2005

Aww, you know me so well. Thank you hon. I love it {{Hugs}}

Welcome to Sunnydale

LJS
23 Jan 2006

I feel guilty pleasure at Giles' takedown of Xander and unalloyed pleasure at Dawn's kind words to them.

Melissa
23 Jan 2006

It doesn't make sense but it's good feedback honest
I have this vision of going up to the fannish pearly gates. Saint Bjo meets me there and asks me why I deserve to be let in. I recount the postcards I sent in and it doesn't impress her. I tell of the walk-a-thons and the charity auctions. The dozens of afgans crocheted for the good of puppies and Christmas leave her cold. Putting up with a Klingon XO for two years impresses her a little but the fic impresses her not. I made her cry at a con once and she holds a grudge.

At last I say I got TalesofSpike to write Ganya! And Saint Lori shoves Bjo out of the way and says, "Get in here girl." or something with much more class.

Tamara
23 Jan 2006

I love these stories. Giles and Anya fit together so well.

Xander is SUCH a dick, isn't he? That's one of the things that went on in canon I could not believe they came up with. He leaves her at the altar without having the decency to tell her first and also she has to deal with his family. Then he comes back and wants to DATE!

I always figured that given her history in seeing the worst in men as a vengeance demon then Anya had to have taken an enormous leap in faith to trust Xander enough to say yes to his proposal . I don't think he fully appreciated that or anything about her really.

Carolyn
8 Nov 2005

Lovely. It's got it all, an immediate Ganya connection, with Anya not giving Giles a chance to get nervous, the unwelcome but inevitable interruption of the scoobies, a fight, and important things said and hopefully heard too. Good for Dawn, glad she had the courage to give the couple her 'blessing', and hopefully the steadying presence of Joyce will help Buffy accept this new relationship.

Pink! Dormouse
6 Nov 2005

I think this was my favourite so far. Lovely Anya voice. Great contrast between Giles and Xander. Yay for Dawn!

And of course Giles can keep up with her. I can think of at least one of my original fiction pairings that has things far worse ;-)

Gina

Josephine
5 Nov 2005

Well, you should know that I'd think that you got Xander's reaction spot on, but only because he didn't have enough warning to pick up an axe first. Now, whose side is Buffy going to be on? I suspect it's one of those things Joyce might have to mediate on.

Lovely chapter.

enigmaticblues
4 Nov 2005

Hoo boy! That really spiced things up, but I'm very pleased with the way Giles handled Xander. Hooray for librarians with experience! And I'm hoping that Buffy comes around soon, but I'm so glad that Dawn's being sensible. Very good stuff.

Amy B.
4 Nov 2005

Ohhh... was waiting on it to hit the fan, but MAN you didn't drag your feet. And good on Giles for kicking Xander's ass... pompous ass, thinking that she was just going to be OK with dating after he left her at the altar. And how much do I love Dawn right now?

Although the end, with Anya switching from orgasms to babies to dogs in about half a second? Brilliant, and so, so perfectly her.

Well done!

geyer
4 Nov 2005

"That's good. Reading in bed was nice but orgasms are fun, too, and necessary, if we ever wish to procreate. What about dogs? Do you like dogs?"

One of the reasons that this is so very funny to me, besides the priceless look one can imagine on Giles' face, is the possibilities for misunderstanding. Dogs? And procreation? My mind went to a very odd place.

Elsa
4 Nov 2005

Your characters are terrific, especially Giles, Anya and Dawn.

selene2
4 Nov 2005

This is wonderful! I so loved it!

I loved how Giles didn't let Xander talk bad about her. I love the way that you portray Giles. So great!

Melissa
4 Nov 2005

Wonderful as always. I loved Anya's last line and Dawn being the so mature about it all.

deb
4 Nov 2005

My heart was in perfect working order.

Me thinks 'other' organs will get a workout (hee!), but I think I'm in Anya-mode at the moment. Lovely, lovely Ganya plus a Xander smackdown - there can never be enough Xander smackdowns ...

curiouswombat
4 Nov 2005

I almost missed this! It didn't show up on my FL - I've just found it when cruising through S2C's FL whilst waiting for the daughter to get ready to go out! Eek! How terrible would it have been if I'd missed it!

It has nothing to do with wanting to hurt him... At least, just in an incidental bonus sort of way

Love it - and so right, Anya.

Karyn
4 Nov 2005

SQUEEEEE !!!!!
squeeee!!!!! *does happy dance around the room and then hurries to sit back in my chair red as a beet as everyone in office looks at me funny* that was great!!! was so excited to see my name at the top...now i can't get the grin off my face!!! i loved that Giles came out on top of that little skuffle, and that is sooooo how i could see Xander and the scoobies reacting to the new couple...*sigh* i'm now in my happy place!!!

X_tremeroswellian
4 Nov 2005

Okay, it's not my birthday but it sure feels like it! I loved this part. Wow. And I'm glad Giles got to beat Xander a little cause he really truly deserved it. And I was thrilled that Dawn was supportive! *grin* This was great. Can't wait for more!

Speaker-to-Customers
4 Nov 2005

Absolutely wonderful. Good enough, in fact, for a Whale of Approval icon; but much too short for such a vast marine mammal, and so I've had to create a special icon to show my appreciation.

"That's good. Reading in bed was nice but orgasms are fun, too, and necessary, if we ever wish to procreate. What about dogs? Do you like dogs?"

BTW, love that last line!

4 Nov 2005

Yeah! Always good to see more of this wonderful story, but especially good this morning. A rotten night at work, terrible cold, and sleep deprivation are improved with a new chapter in the Giles & Anya chronicles!

I really liked that you had Giles stad up for Anya. I knew you would, but he said things that needed to be said. I think Buffy and Dawn agree, but their loyalties are torn. Willow is already angry with Giles, and sh's always been jealous of Anya. So good for Giles in saying what needs to be said, and good for Dawn in doing the right thing. And good for you for cheering me up this morning

I loved the chap!! LOL... Spike worrying about how bad life would be if Buffy failed her test was brilliant! Putting Quentin in his place was even better!

Wes and Spike and Giles' car? Poor Giles!! Although I am reasonably sure they will get it back to him in one piece! I am glad that Wes thought to take a car rather than the bikes- much better than them ending up stuck for the night as Spike was in the show.

So, not going to get this posted before Tuesday eh?

As always, beautifully in character, a lovely bitter-sweet parting with the promise of reunion soon.

For the others adulthood was just a thin veneer over their teenaged personas

So true, but hopefully Joyce's presence in their lives now will help them make the transition more easily.

I love Anya - she must be such a joy to write, with her thousand years of demon experience and wisdom contrasting with so little time trying to fit in as a human - not made easier for her by the way she was treated by Xander, Willow and Buffy.

I'm not sure about the people taking Anya to be Giles' daughter; Emma Caulfield doesn't look that young, and indeed she isn't. She's 32 now, and would have been just coming up to her 29th birthday at this point in time. Of course she was supposed to be much younger, at least physically!

Jane
20 Aug 2005

You show Anya's insecurities very well, I hadn't thought she might reference the time when she and Giles were engaged too, but it makes perfect sense.
I particularly liked, You can be rather exasperating at times, but that doesn't mean that I don't like you, and if you think I would invite someone to Paris just because I felt sorry for them, then you obviously overestimate either my wallet or my generosity."

"Xander walked out... and there's this great big hole in my heart where he used to be and I don't know why and I can't even talk to my best friend about it because he was my best friend."

Love this bit - I always thought the writers gave Anya two of the lovliest speeches (the Joyce one and her wedding vow one).

I love Giles debating whether or not to flush; very human moment. I also love the discussion of whether he'd have used the plane ticket or not during Willow's spell. I always wondered; and pretty much came to the same conclusion.

Anya bit her lip and grimaced slightly. "I left his car in the short term parking at LAX."

Hee! Now that was evil! Very creative revenge; which is just what I'd expect of Anya. I only signed my ex up for a variety of email newsletters and surveys, making sure to check the box which said "sell my info to lots of advertisers".

Most days I wander through life happy with my lot.  Occasionally something happens and I think "gee why couldn't that be me", or "why can't I do that".  Then sometimes I'm lucky enough to read a piece of work that someone is happy to share with us lesser beings, and I think "shit, WHY can't I write like that".

This sentence:

"In a faded colourless world, Giles seemed the only thing that was real."

Is beautifully evocative, as is the whole piece, and because I'm a lesser being I have no words to say thank you adequately for dedicating this to me.

Today is one of those days when I know that I have received more from the Buffy fandom than I could have ever anticipated.

27 Jul 2005
Beautifully descriptive and expressive. Giles is so nervous and so eager to make things perfect for Anya. Such an improvement on how Xander treated her, someone to build her up and cherish her rather than belittle and ignore her all the time.

It wasn't until I saw this that I realised I hadn't read the second part, so have remedied that omission. That one was great too, particularly D'Hoffryn and the 'kissing like Valentino' line.

Really liked this one; Giles trying so hard to make everything just so for Anya really rings true.

A bottle of red wine waited on the dresser, the white was in an ice-bucket. There was a bottle of vodka in the mini-fridge, which was concealed inside one of the cabinets, alongside a bottle of peach schnapps and a variety of mixers. The whisky was in his own smaller room.

Hee! Yes, that's Giles! Covering the booze bases!

exfoliating body scrub with ground apricot kernels, (which to his eyes looked like it would amount to the same thing as using sandpaper instead of a flannel).

For some strange reason, this is my favorite story in the whole series!

I really do like the conversation with D'Hoffryn. He's such an intriguing character; sister, but strangely comic. A good example of what I love about the Buffy-verse, and you've captured that perfectly!...

That was truly beautiful! I loved it. Anya's conversation with D'Hoffryn was just perfect! And Giles and Anya were so gorgeous together in Tabula Rasa.
What she ever saw in Xander I will never know, he was nothing but rude and condescending to her throughout their entire relationship and really even though she looked the same age as the Scoobies at over 1000 years old what could she possibly have in common with someone as immature as Xander? A more mature man who would treat her like a woman rather than a trophy or an accessory is a much more appropriate match!

Hi, finally here:)Enjoyed reading both of these. Especially liked, "Giles isn't shop-worn— Well, maybe a little, but the last few years have been hard on him. Buffy does that to people. Go Anya, blunt but oh, so accurate! Okay to friend you so I don't miss more of these?

Barbara
23 Jul 2005
I finally had a chance to sit down and read this (and it's only 8am here) and I absolutely love this story! I've always adored Anya. You write her very sympathetically, and really nail her voice. Too often in fic she's a cartoon. I can see that could be a fine line to walk. I'm always thrilled to read a good Anya, and this is a great Anya!

Besides, surely she could have no better vengeance on Xander than to live happily ever after with many satisfying orgasms while he struggled to find date after date, who would no doubt reveal themselves to be demons whose only reason for tolerating his company was to take him off guard so that they could kill him.Of course, Buffy would be around to make sure none of them would ever get as far as actual murder but that was okay.

I love this bit-- I can almost hear her voice in this sentence.

I like the way you write D'Hoffryn; very sinister vibe there. My view of him changed significantly with Selfless . I'd seen him as sort of clownish from something blue and Hell's bells .

Giles isn't shop-worn— Well, maybe a little, but the last few years have been hard on him. Buffy does that to people. Even Spike looks older than when he came to Sunnydale and vampires are always meant to look the same age as when they were turned.

That and the fact that being happy would be the ultimate vengeance on demon-magnet Xander.
